Okota Pay is built in Nairobi for the way Kenya actually gets paid.
A mama mboga, a boda rider, a fundi and a shop already take money every day. They give out a till, a paybill or a phone number, and the history of that work stays scattered. Okota Pay puts one tag in front of those accounts and keeps the record with the business.
The tag is what a customer pays. The Okota Number is the permanent identity behind it. Tambulika is the thank-you they see when the money lands. Jazilia is overdraft cover we will offer once that record is real.
Verifying a reservation checks your name against your national ID, then your email and phone. A match opens a receive-only account for that tag. Withdrawals and the rest of the payment products are still being built. We are based in Nairobi, building for the counter, the stage and the roadside.
